arriving royalty : congratulations will & kate!

we've been waiting... wondering... worrying we'll miss the news but the 'great kate wait' is finally over! congratulations to our favourite will & kate for the arrival of their little royal bundle, a prince! I can't wait to scour the details all week & daydream about how incredible this little gentleman's wardrobe will be (with a mom as iconic as kate, you know it'll be a classic looking kid). what are you most excited for this arriving royalty?

celebrate in stripes

somehow, in some way, we have jumped over june straight into july. when did that happen? despite my confusion over where this wonderful summer is sneaking off to, I'm excited to celebrate the center of it all this independence day weekend! plans are procrastinated as always, but I know I'll be sporting stripes of blue with accents of red. I also fully support a pair of seasonal wedges & a chambray shirt to work your way through watermelon slices & patriotic parades. to keep looking more fashion than full on american flag, choose creative everyday pieces rather than the literal stars & stripes approach. accessorize with sparklers & soak up the summer love : happy fourth!

ascot appropriate

I'm all for ignoring the classic list of fashion faux pas : white before labour day, navy & black, mixing metals or sequins during daytime... but some rules simply aren't best to break. last week the great, the glam, the lords & the ladies met for the affair known as the royal ascot! here, a strict style must be met including no midriffs, no thighs, no thin straps & the famed four inch minimum for headpieces & hats. I love to imagine what big, bold & beautiful accessory I would balance on my head if I ever received an invitation. though these elaborate ensembles aren't for every afternoon, they're great inspiration for adding something extra on top. what would you wear to meet ascot appropriate style standards?

high fahrenheit, highly femme

I'm not sure the summer heat has hit your location lately but the east coast is definitely feeling it! there's something about these toasty temperatures that kicks my winter & autumn androgyny out the wardrobe window simply stating, "let's get girly!" ultra feminine details offer an escape into your most whimsical daydreams as it's quite hard to wear pastel pinks & powder blues without wanting an ice cream cone & even harder to pose in a pleated skirt without taking a twirl... my summer dress & sunnies obsession won't die down any moment soon, so I plan to embrace it with lace, eyelets, scalloped hems & (of course) pearls! do you battle high fahrenheits with highly femminine frocks?
