oxford gents

I think it's time to toss the snazzy sneakers and opt for more sophisticated soles. my favorite footwear on the gents is definitely a pair of practical oxfords. whether worn in neutral tones or in happy hues, a great pair of shoes brings the entire ensemble up a notch starting, quite obviously, at your toes. extra points for pairing your laces with cuffs and an attention-seeking set of socks!

but watch out boys : this look is never off-limits to the ladies...

seeing sequins

maybe it's the general lack of sunshine or the shimmer of the snow covered streets, but I am in the mood for sequins! taking the embellished look to daytime creates a casual ensemble that goes from window shopping to street style photography with no extra effort. to keep from looking like you dressed up early for a dinner party, I love the notion of layering a sequined jacket over a graphic tee or revamping your denim shirt over a sparkly sweater. keep spring a little more in sight by brightening up with your pick of sunny sequins!

bigger is better

it is january and it is just chilly. while I've happily embraced the london look of chunky knit scarves and mixing multiple sweaters I still seem to shiver when the breeze picks up which has me peaking at every pretty pea coat that passes. this winter the way to wear your wool is in overly oversized structured shapes! parkas and puffers keeps you warm, but for extra polish pick a coat with cute, clean lines. a pair of skinny jeans & basic booties later and you'll be braving the breeze in some serious style! (but what to do with wind-whipped hair is still over my head, literally...)

let's go to london

one student visa, two city guide books, three overstuffed bags and countless to-do lists later : I'm finally finding my way to the lovely city of london! extremely excited with numerous nervous butterflies, I can't wait to explore everything historic, classic and iconic about the city. I've been pouring over lists and guides to scout out all the things I want to see and experience while across the pond and plan on stocking up on vintage, living in museums and surviving on architecture.

to document my travels I've created an extension to my.pearl : pearls.in.places ! here you will find up to date photos and commentary on life in london and my adventures abroad. my.pearl will continue to host arrangements of my weekly inspirations. cheers!
